Analyze Open Dump File
To easily analyze the dump file that caused the crash in Windows 10, you can follow these steps:
- Open Start.
Find WinDbg, right-click the top result and select the Run as administrator option.
- Click the Windows file menu.
- Click Start Debugging.
Select each option to open the swamp files. Windows
- Select a dump file in a directory, for example
% SystemRoot% Minidump.

How do you dump memory in WinDbg?
In WinDbg see File> Icon File Path. and click OK. This will prompt WinDbg to contact Microsoft’s symbol server and download the parts that most of you need and store them in C: symbols. After configuring the icons, click File> Open Crash Dump.
